Cork is a 100% natural insulation material.
Cork plates and cork granules insulate both thermally and acoustically, are moisture resistant and will not be affected by mice or termites. Cork unlit autonomous and has a flame retardant property (Class B2 DIN 4102). Because cork is a natural product there will be no chlorides in combustion, cyanide and other toxic gases. Cork also has a very favorable aging coefficient. I.e. that the insulation value of cork hardly decreases with time, as opposed to different alternatives. Cork is naturally water resistant. This makes that the insulation-value or thermal conductivity can not be increased when the material is wet, and it is impossible that it start to molder under the influence of moisture or poor ventilation. Cork also has an acoustic insulation. The speed of sound in cork slows down considerably, which weakens the prevailing sounds.
